I'm an Oilers fan. While McDavid grabs all the headlines (for good reason), I think Leon Draisaitl is one of the more underrated players in the league, but he's also very young. Lots of great potential in Edmonton that is finally starting to be realized with Todd McClellan behind the bench.

But I think the strongest team of the future may well reside in Toronto where Mike Babcock has brought his wizardry and he has a stable of spectacular young players as well.

Winnipeg also has some bright young stars, but is a tier below T.O. and Edmonton, IMO.

At least we soon won't have to worry about Canada suffering another year like last year without a single team making it to the post-season.

even though the A's have been garbage since 2014 while the Warriors and Raiders are trying to leave. While the W's will most likely be out of town by 2019 and at their new SF arena, I'm still cautiously optimistic that the A's new president Dave Kaval can turn things around and get a stadium built near downtown. I was at the A's Fan Fest this past Saturday, and he sounded genuinely passionate about the team and about making progress. There was also a high turnout of A's fans despite the recent losing seasons. Meanwhile, I think the Raiders will be blocked from Vegas. Mark Davis is worth only about $500M while the relocation fee is $550M, and he's struggling to find and keep investors (Sheldon Adelson bailed on him recently, and Goldman Sachs is out of the question). Also, it wouldn't make sense for the other owners to let the team move from the 6th largest media market to the 42nd largest, especially in a year where the NFL experienced a decline in TV revenue.

Nevertheless, all of these events have provided me a convenient escape from the harsh reality of the country having a dimwitted and dangerous man-boy in charge. I always did have a passion for sports, but nowadays I'm following it even more closely.
