Nowitzki reaches lofty 30,000 career point mark

He is the 6th one to do it in the NBA.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38,387 (1,560 games played)

Karl Malone 36,928 (1,476 games played)

Kobe Bryant 33,643 (1,346 games played)

Michael Jordan 32,292 (1,072 games played)

Wilt Chamberlain 31,419 (1,045 games played)

Dirk Nowitzki 30,005 (1,376 games played)

*Julius Erving scored over 30,000 points in the ABA and NBA.

Look at Jordan and Chamberlain. Imagine they had played another 300 or 400 games!

. . .he had a couple weak games on the road and got to reach the mark at a home game.

Another note on that list: All but one of those guys won at least on championship, and Malone probably would have but the Chicago buzzsaw stood in their way. That Jazz team was awfully good.
