NCAA moves: Salem losing Stagg Bowl, Division III men's final four

SALEM, VIRGINIA -- The 2017 Stagg Bowl will be the last one in Salem for at least four years.

The NCAA announced today that it has awarded the NCAA Division III football championship game to Shenandoah, Texas, for 2018 and 2019 and awarded it to Canton, Ohio, for 2020 and 2021. The 2018 Stagg Bowl will be the first one held away from Salem in 26 years.

The NCAA announced the locations of various NCAA tournaments for the 2018-19 school year through the 2021-22 school year. Salem had already been awarded the Stagg Bowl for December 2017.

Salem is also losing the Division III men's basketball final four. The March 2018 Division III men's final four will be the last one at the Salem Civic Center for at least four years. That event has been in Salem since 1996.
