The Buffalo Bills dialed up a pair of trades on Friday morning that comprehensively reorganize their wideout room -- among others.
The team announced that Sammy Watkins has been shipped to the Los Angeles Rams -- along with a 2018 sixth-round pick -- in exchange for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-rounder.
In a corresponding swap, the Bills acquired Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-rounder from the Eagles for starting-level cornerback Ronald Darby.
"These aren't easy decisions," Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters Friday. "I laid both trades out for [owner] Terry Pegula and [coach] Sean McDermott last night. This was absolutely a we decision."

I'm not sure I understand these moves including trading Ronald Darby away but the Bills did fire their coach & gm this offseason.

(1,068 posts)The present situation with the Bills is on a "wait and see" level. It has been like that for the longest time. Rex Ryan could not get the job done. No playoffs and everything else.

(29,322 posts)Last year their DT was injured halfway through the season and he really made the defense click from the front 7 on and Lorenzo Alexander had by far the best season of his career. Going 8-8 is hard to do especially in this league but the Bills had some tough close games last year like in Seattle. I think the Bills were are a lot closer last year than they will be this year IMO. I think Tre'davious White is a good addition but they fired the GM that drafted him after the draft of all times to fire a GM.
