Raiders adding insult to injury on Week 11

Marquee "homegame" vs. the Patriots is being played in Mexico City, not Oakland, denying die-hard fans not only the chance to witness a live stellar AFC match-up but what is also probably Tom Brady's last Bay Area start.

I was thinking of purchasing some Oakland Raider gear (hat, t-shirt, etc) before they moved to Las Vegas, but not now. This is the last straw, and Mark Davis doesn't get a dime from me. I hope he dies a slow, painful death.

This is the third season with a foreign home game for the Raiders. The Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos, Giants, Seahawks, Ravens, or Packers have never had to give up a home game for an international game.

of all those teams, I really do. None of them have to put up with any relocation drama or owners who aren't committed to keeping the teams in their respective cities.

There can't be any more loyal than Raider fans anyway. They never give up, especially when they suck! There are a lot of Raider fans here in north central Idaho. More Seahawk fans, but an easy second are the Raiders.

I know some Raider fans here like them moving to Vegas because they go to Vegas anyway. Now they can go see a game too. It was the same with Nascar, right at first anyway. The bunch I knew that were all fired up about the Nascar race and went the first couple years lost interest. Once they did it a couple times, they quit going.

Nascar expanded heavily out west when they really should have built a new one mile or short track or two down south for their die hard fans. Rockingham needed to go. They should have built a new track just like it somewhere close but better.

seem to think that a move to Vegas will be fine, and that they can just rely on a bunch of out-of-town Raider fans to fill the seats and compensate for any pissed off NorCal fans. What not many people in sports media discuss is that a Vegas stadium would be more susceptible to being taken over by opposing fans due to the transient nature of the city itself, and the Vegas market is nowhere near as large or lucrative as the Bay Area's.

And how can you guarantee he won't be injured?

It's a blow to New England fans living here too.

Did Mark Davis sacrifice a closer score / better contest for a bigger gate?

In all likelihood...

I learned today that NFL teams that are relocating, planning to relocate, or those that have won Super Bowls must, under league rules, play a home game in another country the same or following year. Davis had no choice in the matter but to play in Mexico City (he did have a choice to stay in Oakland).

I still think he's a douchebag.

I remember when they played the Jaguars on the "road" in London but I'd have to look at past schedules to double check.

from 2014:

A decision made last week points toward the notion of getting more teams to sacrifice home games for the benefit of feeding the increasing English appetite for American football. Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal reports that the owners voted to require any team that hosts a Super Bowl to give up a home game to London at some point over a five-year period.
