When I was 50, I could hit it 265-270
Now, I hit it 235
But, on doing the "old man" game
Hit it straight and hope!
Today, it worked

Game is so much harder than it looks!

The game looks so damn simple when you watch the pros playing on TV. Just orient yourself to where you want to hit it, swing, and watch the ball fly 280 yards down the middle of fairway...........
.......as opposed to my game. It starts the same, but then I watch the ball duck hook into the woods about 150 yards away, while I mutter "that damn shot would have gone over 250 yards if it hadn't flown in the woods."

69 is something to be proud of. My best nine hole score was 38, but I've never broken 80 in a complete round.

I was a Plus 4 in college, but that was over years ago
When graduated, I was working, going to grad school, playing in a band, and a little later planning to marry the one I've been married to for 38 years
I quit playing for 16 years
Got back to scratch and then MS
Another 8 years learning to hit it with one good eye!
Yeah, it's way harder than it looks!!!

Back in the 70's, I played the 2 courses at Disney
10 under for 4 rounds when in college
The winner of the pro event 4 months before was 23 under
I had ZERO idea what I could have done to he 14 shots better in 4 days
That's when I knew I was good, but not that good!

High school chess club champion... Junior State Chess Champion.

Beat my first grand-master at a tournament at 18 (he was distracted by personal issues)

Then I played a Russian Grand Master at an exhibition (he was playing like 12 simultaneous games, I played him to a draw).

Later played a "name" grand master at another tournament. He handed me my ass on a platter.

We can be REALLY good at something, but the we find out "not so fast"!

In college we had a department softball team... decent enough, playing for fun.

We got this one guy who used to play minor league baseball... almost made the majors.

OMFG... he would play center field and we would have the right and left fielders shade the lines because anything hit almost anywhere near the center field he would gobble up.

The other teams quickly learned to just walk him intentionally.

Well, I'm blind in my left eye because of MS
But I could have hit it with the other eye closed!

Saturday before last I got caught in slow play traffic. Played last 8 holes with 3 guys
The best of them shot 59 for 8 holes! One guy hit two tee shots in a row into the woods, 40 feet forward of where he was standing. He hit 60 feet left and 40 feet forward twice.

Shot 73 today before I went for my med pot card
2 under for 2 rounds
