CLEVELAND -- This has been a moment months in the making for an Indians team that is rich on talent, but beset with adversity. It has not been the perfect season, but the club achieved step one in its checklist of goals in overwhelming fashion on Saturday.
The Tribe secured its third American League Central title in six seasons with a 15-0 rout of the Tigers that put Cleveland's potential on full display at Progressive Field.
The division title is the club's 10th since 1994, when the current three-division system was established. That is the most of any team in the AL Central. The current run of titles marks the first time the Indians have won at least three straight since 1995-99 (five). Cleveland has also managed a winning record six years running.
