(17,306 posts)Belichick is the master.
McVay just has to lick his wounds and know he's in good company. He'll be a more seasoned coach due to tonight's experience.

(3,163 posts)The Rams came into the game and didn't play the offense that got them to the big game. He's not the first coach to do this, but it's stupid. You win the big game by doing what you did to win enough games to get you to the big game.
You lose the big game by saying, "Well we don't want to do what they expect us to do, so we're going to use a different game plan." That means that you're going to be doing what you don't know how to do, because you haven't done it all year.

(31,173 posts)It didn't seem to me he was reading the entire field at times. He often telegraphed his targets. And held onto the ball way too long. I know the New England D was showing him a lot of looks, but the QB has to adjust to that. He played like a rookie IMO.
I also thought the offensive plays, in general, seemed to take too long to develop, giving the defense more time to respond.
Huge disappointment overall. One wonders how Drew Brees and the Saints would have fared?

(29,322 posts)Rams have had a lot of 2 minute drives for their first several possessions not enough time to get in a rhythm it was a field position battle the first 3 quarters. One throw he threw it too early too someone that was double covered but someone broke free open after the throw was released.
There were were also 2 near misses in the end zone one the player was wide open but the Patriots player arrived by the time the ball got into the end zone. The 2nd one was right before the interception to the PFF rated best cornerback in the league that went right thru his hands.
It was really a couple of key plays away from being a Rams victory. The biggest mistakes I've seen the Rams make is leaving Gurley on the bench.

(29,322 posts)On Kliff Kingsbury known for pass happy offenses but Belichick went back to old school I formation and was third in the league in rushing attempts per game (to be fair the Rams were 4th but McVay didn't show it last night keeping Gurley on the bench for the most part until the backup fumbled) and winning a championship in the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever. I'd love it if I didn't hate the Pats so much.
