(29,322 posts)Has more to do with the level of competition she will be facing in college rather than the fact she is a woman. I do hope she succeeds in college.

(5,408 posts)but even at central meth her opponents are out of her weight class. a boy that size would be equally, well, whatever.
as a parent or coach i have to recommend a sport or position with less contact. surprised we haven't seen a female shortstop before now,

(29,322 posts)I quit in HS because coaches sucked the fun out of the game. I was good but not good enough. Only one person made it to UNLV and not the NFL and he was way better than me.

(17,305 posts)And there's no question she's a phenomenal athlete. But her physical limitations will prevent her from playing at the NFL level. And, at the end of the day, not having CTE is a pretty good consolation prize anyway.

(31,172 posts)I've grown to really appreciate NL ball. I like strategy. I like the bunt, the sacrifice, and all that sets it up. The strategic aspects of sport are being slowly being stripped away in a misguided race for profit, and that is a sad occurrence.

(17,305 posts)has been in play for a loooong time now. It has changed the game, but not all for the worse. Purists would prefer how many teams in MLB? A dozen? Maybe 20 max? Some markets are weak but I'm generally satisfied with the composition.
Purists would have been outraged when relievers were introduced. I'm glad we have "set up men" and closers now.
Purists wouldn't want any part of video replay. I'm all for it.
As for bunts, yeah, I see how they are an intriguing part of the strategy but they will still exist with the introduction of the DH. There just will be fewer of them. Meanwhile there will be more home runs, and few things gets fans more excited than a ball hit out of the park.
It's not all bad, Auggie! Really, it isn't!
