Renew Deal

Redskins make a terrible deal for the #2 draft pick.

They traded 3 first round picks and a second round pick to move up from #6 this year to #2. It's a terrible deal for the redskins that will rob them of talent for years to come. Great deal for the Rams.

<snip>
The trade, first reported by FoxSports.com, cannot be signed off on, turned in and processed until the new league year starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST, but it is expected to become official then.

In the deal, the Rams will receive the Redskins' No. 6 overall pick, as well as the Redskins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. The Rams will also receive Washington's second-round pick this year in return for the second overall pick that the Redskins now will use on whichever quarterback the Indianapolis Colts do not draft No. 1 overall.

to resist this. It's going to be fun watching all the deadskin fans spin this one.

At least Minnesota got Herschel Walker!!

The Rams now have FIVE first round picks over the next three years. That sucks, they could make all sorts of hay out of all those picks.

Don't know enough about Washington's WR's, but i don't remember anything special. Not like there's a Larry Fitzgerald there waiting for a good QB.

8. Perhaps the League, realizing the errors of their ways in the Al Davis fiasco, will step in ....

... and negate the deal. Redskins fans should hope so. Rams fans, not so much.

Worst trade ever: October 12, 1989. Three 1sts, three 2nds, a 3rd, a 6th and five players for Hershel Walker and four "guys". One of the 1sts was used to draft Emmett Smith.

This is a straight up draft pick trade. If there was cash involved or somehow made a sham of the process, that would be different.

10. I guess there could be a contrarian view on this

What are they really giving up? They break even on the first round pick this year and they are giving up a second rounder and two first rounders. Franchise QB's are very difficult to get. If this guy is as good as the hype, it might be worth it.

and as pointed out elsewhere in this thread, it takes more than a QB to win in the NFL.

And they are giving something up with those other three picks. I think the Rams got a great deal. If the Redskins get an Eli, Brady, Rogers type player then they did too. But those players are so rare.

14. The Browns came close to making the same deal

From the link:

The Cleveland Browns had stepped up their efforts to try to acquire the No. 2 pick in recent days, going so far as to offer at least three No. 1 picks to the Rams and possibly even a second-round pick, according to one source familiar with the deal. Cleveland sensed it was going to get the deal done, only to be informed that St. Louis planned to deal the coveted No. 2 pick to the Redskins.

15. I agree. they are giving up more than half of an O line for the next ten years

OR
An O lineman for 8-10 years, a WR for 5 years, and a CB for 3-5 years

London Fletcher can't play forever they need a LB and a pass rusher.

Snyder needs to stop running the team like it is his fantasty team....and I am not a Skins fan I just live in the midst of Skins country (Richmond)

On Edit - they HAVE to upgrade their receiver corp AND there is nothing wrong with simply upgrading the QB position - they could get a proven commodity who is better than their current guys.
