Ichiro Suzuki: four hits in return to Japan

AP / 3-28-12

TOKYO -- Ichiro Suzuki had four hits in his return to Japan, Dustin Ackley homered and then singled in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 3-1 Wednesday night in baseball's season-opener.

Felix Hernandez combined with two relievers on a six-hitter as Major League Baseball opened its season in Tokyo for the fourth time.

Suzuki went four for five with one RBI. What a homecoming!

Highly-touted Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes of the A's went one for three in his MLB debut.

It had to be weird for Ichiro to all of a sudden be around so many people who look like him instead of the other way around. And everybody was so formal. The crowd looked like they were all in uniform, too.

I understand that Seattle and Oakland fans had to get up at 3AM to watch it. How does this help the game in America?
