Rockies' Moyer makes rotation, will pitch April 7 vs. Astros
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Retirement can wait. History beckons.
Jamie Moyer officially joined the Rockies' rotation Friday, leaving him in position to become the oldest pitcher ever to win a major league game when he starts on April 7 at Houston. The 49-year-old will pitch second in the Rockies' rotation behind Jeremy Guthrie and in front of Juan Nicasio. Jhoulys Chacin will pitch the Rockies' home opener on April 9.
The Rockies will go with four starters until April 15 when Drew Pomeranz makes his season debut against the Diamondbacks.
Moyer won the job, outpitching Tyler Chatwood and Guillermo Moscoso, who are combined 50 years old.
