Lions' Nick Fairley arrested in Mobile, AL

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested on a second-degree marijuana possession charge on Tuesday afternoon in Mobile, Ala., Mobile police spokesman Christopher Levy told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Fox10TV.com reported that Fairley was charged with second-degree possession, a misdemeanor in Alabama.

His arrest comes after Lions running back Mikel Leshoure was caught chewing marijuana during a traffic stop March 12 in southwestern Michigan. A police report said Leshoure was a passenger in a car stopped on Interstate 94 in Lake Township. The officer reported seeing him chewing marijuana and noticed small pieces on his shirt. Leshoure and the driver were ticketed for marijuana possession.

The Lions said they are aware of Fairley's arrest and are gathering more information.

(for those of you just tuning in, despite Mom's Pack avvie, MiniMeemie grew up a Lions fan in MI)

I mean, it's not like a run-of-the-mill domestic violence or DUI case or something. This is pot!!

I think it's crap. I would rather they smoke pot over getting addicted to painkillers.

only college football. However, both Auburn and Alabama football teams have a three strikes and you're out rule. Get caught three consecutive days stoned at practice, and you're suspended for a play the next game.

What they hell is the world coming to when you can win a national championship and that doesn't even get you enough "juice" to get out of a second degree possession arrest in that state? Pretty soon they're going to start treating athletes like everyone else, and who's going to want to be a professional athlete then?
