My cardinals have returned, along with purple finches and a pair of pine warblers

They stayed all last winter, but disappeared (along with my Carolina Wren) in January during a cold snap.

Red Boy was at the feeder and singing in the crab apple tree - and a female showed up!

Both the male and female Pine Warblers were hacking away at the suet feeder.

At one point I had 4 sparrow species, a gold finch and a purple finch on the feeder at the same time..

I love watching birds!

With the exception of the purple finch, it sounds like a lot of the same birds visit your yard as mine. Just this morning, I saw my first goldfinch of the year.

I chuckled because you named your favorite Red Boy. I call my favorite red bellied woodpecker Big Red.

I've literally never seen a cardinal, or a purple finch

We've got tons of Stellar's Jays, chickadees, flicker, and soon the Hummers will migrate through

High altitude mountains also have a lot of doves, quail...even a few Ravens and a great horned owl couple was here last summer

Just love my backyard visitors. Have had a nice mix of finches, cardinals, and titmice at my feeder at the same time, too. Then the sparrows take a shift dining. Gold finches and warblers are a rare sight. I get the occasional cedar waxwing.

White winged doves stay busy at the seed tray on the ground. One in particular dubbed, Hinky, has stuck around over the months after injuring a wing. The grackles have their own large water dish where they hold pool parties.
