The heart of a champion.

Brock Purdy had a pair of 21-yard scrambles in key moments, finishing with 48 yards on five carries (ESPN), something he never did in the regular season. He just pulled something new (in the NFL) when it was most needed. Reporters had seen him do so in college.

I am reminded of the famous "game 5 in Philly" that Barry Zito won, against expectations. He found the passing gear (pitching, in this case).

What makes games boring is when they are predictable. Rising above and/or outside expectations makes for excitement. Few have that extra gear.

Because Purdy, 24, was drafted with the final pick in the seventh round of the NFL draft in 2022, he's locked into a lower yearly salary for his first four years in the league.

I think he will get a nice pay raise in another 2 years.

So he gets a big payday in 2026.
He also has at least 2 endorsement deals.

He may want to rework his contract to keep him before free agency.
