Cam Newton is a jackass.

He is now in my hall of shame with Lou Piniella, whom I once heard ask a woman reporter, "what do you know about pitch counts, young lady?" and Peyton Manning, who reportedly showed his junk to a woman reporter in the locker room and then years later, cost her her job over it.

On a brighter note, local sports radio host "Misogynist in the Morning" Mitch Levy was arrested in a prostitution sting and has been off the air ever since.

Is it too much to ask to just be a woman who enjoys sports without all the BS?

Now, he's given me some real material to work with.

The women fans I know in Detroit are kinda pissed at him, which should make for an interesting game on Sunday.

He didn’t just show his junk...he dropped it on her face, or in close proximity. He and his father are vile in the way they blackballed that world class trainer...absolutely vile!

I've always hated him for that (and the fact that the Mannings pulled rank when Eli didn't want to play in San Diego - why even have a draft at all if people don't have to play for the team that drafted you?) Then, when he had a chance to apologize, he just did some victim blaming.

BOTH are bad.

However, you have women still defending the female reporter saying that what she said had nothing to do with him being sexist, and to not change the subject.

So her racism is to be excused because he's sexist?

Oh please

Her past tweets are unfortunate but weren't at issue when he made his remarks either.

But in the context of how he answered the question, my opinion stands. Women sports reporters deserve respect and assuming he was unaware of her tweets (which I obviously won't defend) he shouldn't have answered a question like that.

Totally agree. BOTH should be taken to the "wood shed" so to speak.

But for those who defended the woman sports reporter by saying that what she said is not germane to the conversation and doesn't matter. UH, NO.

In the very unlikely event that he was aware of her tweets, then she deserved whatever answer she got (but on the basis that she was a racist, not because she was a woman reporter asking a question).

How someone who covers sports, one of the most diverse sectors of our workforce, got away with those tweets is a different issue - and equally bad.
