My view would be controversial among some of my fellow animal activists, but I consider hunting* a relatively okay way to obtain meat.

Especially when compared to the horror that is factory farmed meat: 1) at least the animal got to live in the wild ; 2) it is effortful and the hunter faces the reality of the kill versus being in denial about what goes into the process; 3) it cannot be scaled up like horrors like factory farming and 4) a subset of hunters are more conservation minded than people completely out of touch with the wild.

I don’t eat meat or seafood because I would never be able to kill anything larger than a spider and I hate killing even spiders.

*: provided it isn’t Dick Cheney style canned hunting, but where the human and the animal have an even shot and it is for food not sport.
