We got our 'I Survived Nevada Highway 50' Certificates!

I've posted before in this group about our road trip through Highway 50 and all the places we had to get our passport stamped to prove we survived "The Loneliest Road in America." Well, we mailed it in and a couple months later, we got our certificates in the mail!

But,you forgot to wear your Tee Shirts. They were available in Ely and Fallon. BTW,did you do a car truck count while crossing? Special harsh beauty on that 150 plus mile stretch.

We got drinks in Fallon and we spent the night in Ely, including a delicious steak dinner at the Cellblock Steakhouse, but we didn't see any Highway 50 T-shirts! We definitely would have bought them if we did.

It was extraordinary driving that stretch of road. We didn't do a car or truck count, we just counted the number of minutes in between seeing a car or truck. At one stretch we had the entire road to ourselves for 20 minutes. Absolute bliss!

One car and three trucks and the trucks were hauling Gold Concentrate to the Possessing plant between Austin and Eureka.

So you Guy's had a rush hour of traffic.

We drove Hwy 50 several years ago taking my daughter to school in California. It was some of the most memorable parts of the trip. Absolutely beautiful. Range after range of mountains crossed with long flat stretches between. Saw one of the largest jack rabbits I've ever seen just sitting along the roadside. Very long front legs and tall ears. So fit the place. I'm looking forward to doing it again some day.

I think they've been issuing the certificates for the last couple years. Honestly, I absolutely loved the solitude of the journey. I thought it would be something to cross off my bucket list, but I would love to do it again!

Living in Tahoe, we've been out to Battle Mtn on 80. Went from Fallon to Fernley at Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation for the PowWow...
We saw a herd of wild mustang and stopped to say hello - Also had a summer thunderstorm just burst out of the sky as the drumming started! it was truly a magical experience.

...We have a joke that Nevada miles are longer than anywhere else cuz the landscape stretches so far that you think you have gone farther than you actually have!

I have never really taken a road trip across states before, it's definitely on the bucket list!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
