Extremely inaccurate. I was using them for bike trekking in Europe. They had roads where there never were roads. And camping icons on spots that hadn't been camped upon since the Middle Ages.

Michelin was very accurate, though.

Since the map data for South Africa is too large for my unit, I would be getting the maps on a memory chip. Do you know how that interfaces with the unit. Sorry I am a novice.

I'm an old fashion paper map person.

I was in South Africa last October. The only map I used was for Cape Town. My stops along the Garden Route could be explored without a map. I moved around via BazBus.

It was actually very useful and quite accurate. Except for the prounounciations, which the robot voice always mangled (resulting in great laughter).

I'd say the Garmin saved our asses a number of times on this 2000 mile road trip we took in early May. I highly recommend it.

with a north american and european map. It was great - especially navigating those round-abouts in Ireland and the UK. My son who was driving said it was like playing a video game. His driving was excellent!
