My name is Eve Brannon. I am the president of Upstate Atheists in Spartanburg, South Carolina. We were recently spoken of in international news when the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen would not allow us to volunteeer.

Your bid is for me and my 4 year old daughter. She must be able to stay with me at all times. We will attend any church on a Sunday morning. We will listen to the sermon and I agree to be acknowledged as a guest. I will speak to members of the congregation if you wish and what led me to the path I chose. I'm fine with speaking publicly, answering questions, or simply sitting in the crowd. I will NOT question or refute anyone's beliefs. I will be respectful of all members of the church. All proceeds will go to the charitable acts of Upstate Atheists in 2014.

The church must be within 50 miles of the zip code 29385. Otherwise the bidder must provide transportation and adequate lodging.

Lodging must be in an approved hotel. Transportation must also be preapproved.

I wonder if this will fetch more than the toast.

Am I missing something here?

The link leads to a site for the CD "Take me to your leader", lol.

3. Who knows. That bogus decision to keep them out of the soup kitchen did get a lot of attention.

This may simply be an attempt to build consciousness off that.

I don't know why she has to drag her four year old daughter into it.

4. Lots of people drag their small children to church.

Most don't think it's such a bad thing to have a child attend a church service.

8. Most likely she doesn't have a babysitter available on Sunday mornings

so she needs to bring the kid with her wherever she goes. Whatever the reason is, do you really think it's a bad thing that she plans to have the child attend church with her?

Do you think it's wrong, in general, to involve a small child in fundraising for charity?

9. Well, I guess that could be one explanation, but there are many others.

I think the whole idea of her auctioning herself off like this is just stupid and juvenile.

If she want to attend a church, there are many that would welcome her. If she wants to bring her child, I'm sure they would be delighted.

And yes, I think it's wrong in general to involve children in attention seeking stunts, but not in general to involve them in fundraising.
