Atheist in the Bible Belt: A Documentary

February 9, 2014
By Hemant Mehta

Just before Christmas last year, the Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters produced and aired a half-hour documentary called “Atheist in the Bible Belt” that featured several local atheists talking about why they don’t believe in God (among other things). It’s worth noting that most of the speakers are atheists of color, which is a pretty nice change of pace. The video is now available online (with permission of the Black Nonbelievers).

Check it out!

think it's any chasm. Can one believe in a superior energy/intelligence...which I do because I didn't create myself...but don't call it God or some Santa in the Sky with Diamonds for Believers.

I celebrate superior humans who have eternal wisdom...many of whom are saying the same thing pointing to another being/energy of some kind. I also believe I have that energy within myself that perhaps with appropriate practices or energy committed, I too could become a superior being. (alas, not thus far.)

It's an interesting subject.

I hope they keep growing and push back against the evangelical believers and non-believers who think they need to destroy each other.

Kudos to this group.

4. Check out their logo at the end. It's a variation of the Humanist symbol.
