Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod partners with American Heritage Girls...

(Headline continued... a faith-based alternative to Girl Scouts)

American Heritage Girls (AHG), a Christian alternative to Girl Scouts, received a boost last week when the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod denomination signed a memorandum of understanding recommending AHG and pledging the two will work together to provide programs for girls.

...

The memorandum opens doors and makes it easier for parents at LCMS congregations to suggest their church or school start an AHG troop, she said.

AHG, which was founded in 1995 in Cincinnati, offers a Christ-centered program for girls ages 5-18, with a focus on “building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country,” the news release about the memorandum said.

AHG's membership has grown by 42 percent per year for the past three years, Garibay said. The organization currently has about 780 troops in the United States and serves about 35,000 girls worldwide.

That it's Missouri Synod explains a lot. They might need just a few more years of 42% growth to reach the nearly 2.5 million member Girl Scouts, who thankfully don't exclude anyone.
