Christmas.. I love it..

Even the gift giving gone goofy. As a Christian, this is one of my favorite times of year. Whether Jesus was born now (which I doubt, but like everyone else I have no proof of the time of his birth) or in the spring.. Makes no difference. I just love the Holidays. I love the Christmas programs, the caroling, the hot apple cider..the quiet reverence of the Christmas Eve service. All of this makes me happy to my very core. Happy Holidays Religion group, no matter where you are on the continuum of faith, I wish you well. Happy Holidays my friends of all faiths and no faith.

Yes, the holiday season for us is a bout Santa Claus and reindeer. It's about Rudolf and his red nose, about who has been naughty and who has been nice. I love both getting and giving coal in my stocking (though it can be hard to walk on). it's about eggnog, hot chocolate, food and family. It's about sledding, snowboarding and snowmen (if we have snow) and it's about well deserved time off from work. Others may celebrate the religious overtones adopted over the years, but for me and my family, it is completely secular.

So Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!

Welcome to DU, you little trouble maker you

I stopped buying gifts years ago, but will eat with friends this year.

Our community is expecting a baby in January, so I suspect next year will be a whole other story.

Tonight I am going to a Posada. It's a Mexican tradition where the children walk around with a burro that has a pregnant woman on it. They sing at very places, asking for a place to stay, and get repeatedly turned down. They eventually find a place that will take them and that is where the party starts.

There is also a piñata contest.

Have a most wonderful holiday season, peace train. May you be surrounded by love.

Pinata contest sounds like so much fun!!

We have a new baby in our family.. well he is 16 months old.. a grand nephew, and the Christmas lights in his eyes are amazing.. he will just sit and stare at the tree, his little mouth wide open.. saying pretty pretty pretty.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday cbayer..

All of the children in town participated and the singing back at forth at various restaurants was wonderful.

Only three pinatas, but the children had a great time with them.

Christmas is for children and I hope your new addition will bring joy to everyone.

On the sidewalk, no less. Violin, upright bass, 2 clarinets and a French horn of all things. Neat. Folks stopped to take in a tune or two.

Merry, merry holidays all.

I like the chance to have a nice quiet few days with my SO, curled up in front of the tv; my one steak a year, the goofy gift giving. I can't drink much these days (interferes with my meds) but warm cider is nice. The only thing I dislike is teh snow (pretty common here) as my crutches don't get much purchase in snow.
