Q: Charlie Hebdo. Muslims go in, shoot up the place, yell Allahu Akbar.
A: Im a humorist. Im a satirist. Im a journalist. Im a writer. Its terrible.
Q: Have you condemned the attack?
A: Im sorry, what?
Q: Do you as a Muslim condemn this attack?
A: Well yes. But.
Q: Why do you hesitate?
A: If I condemn the attack I could make it seem like Im justifying a collective guilt. That worries me.

(146,218 posts)I think he is interviewing himself, but it so poignantly points out the extreme dilemma that most muslims are in at this point.
Compare and contrast to Dawkins thoughtless and horribly provocative anti-muslim tweet. I know where my respect lies.

(12,157 posts)what is scary is that I would not be surprised if the interview was real by any of the major snooze organs because I've heard those insinuations made since September 11, 2001.

Not that it matters, you're on a roll.

(19,705 posts)Yes, you do.
Perhaps something along the lines of 'it sickens me when people use religion as justification for violence, especially when it's my own religion. I can see and undersand how much of the world views this as a major problem inherent to Islam, because so many that share my beliefs are using to justify their actions."

(49,533 posts)In which an atheist who notes the relationship between a particular religious belief and these killings is accused of hating ALL religion and wanting ALL believers to die.
I mean, as long as we're making up interviews to make a point...
