Mormon Apostle's Jeffrey Holland (L) and Dallin Oaks (R) wait for a press conference to start to announce at a news conference The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints stance on religious freedom and nondiscrimination when it comes to gay and LGBT issues currently being litigated in the United States and around the world on Jan. 27, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah. | George Frey via Getty Images
Peter Harrison was rushing to class Tuesday morning when he noticed a flurry of activity on his Facebook feed.
Senior leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had just announced support for legislation that protects lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from discrimination -- and Harrisons LDS friends were giddily reposting the news.
