Pope Francis Expects Papacy of 4 or 5 Years

Mar 13, 2015, 11:06 AM ET
By ANDREW SPRINGER

Two years to the day after he was elected to lead the world’s 1.1 billion Catholics, Pope Francis said today that he expects to have only a short papacy.

"I have the feeling that my Pontificate will be brief, 4 or 5 years; I do not know, even 2 or 3,” the 78-year-old pontiff told Mexican broadcaster Televisa.

“I feel that the Lord has placed me here for a short time, and nothing more,” he added, comparing the feeling to “a gambler who convinces himself he will lose so he won’t be disappointed. And if he wins, he’s happy.”

He has certainly done some things to enrage some deeply imbedded insiders.

2. Taken out? Why don't you just say "killed"?

And then explain why any sane, decent person would praise or support an organization that sees nothing wrong with maintaining hierarchical control by contract murder.

Pope Awesome is totally a liberal who wants to allow marriage equality (despite saying it's "from satan&quot and women priests (despite saying it's "off the table&quot and reproductive choice (despite bellowing about the evils of aborion).

He only refrains from challenging any of those items because of unseen evil forces who will kill him. Yeah, that's the ticket!

He also has a great deal of support and if anyone tried to harm him, he would rapidly become a martyr.

that would have him killed for doing the right thing. Right here, right now.

I suspect everyone here knows you can't. Just as you can't explain why, if your wild fantasy were true, the wonderpope that you fawn over would lack the simple courage to do the right and decent thing in the face of personal danger.

13. Ooh and don't forget all the atheists who secretly hate women, gays, and all other minorities.

You know, the ones who are publicly lobbying for their rights and condemning the pope for dismissing those issues or calling them "from Satan."

It is truly impressive you've figured out our secret agenda of actually HATING everyone but being so frustrated we can't hate them openly that we hate religion instead, and this pope in particular who is spreading hate against the groups that we hate... uhh... wait a minute, doesn't that mean we should like him?

okasha, please come straighten out this pretzel logic you've gotten yourself into!

Essentially the same group of institutional bigots that were responsible for all the others. But no matter who it is, the yacht clubbers will swoon with optimism about how THIS pope will make "progress".
