If you recall, Matthew G. McLaughlin is the lawyer who submitted the Sodomite Suppression Act as a ballot initiative in California which calls for the vigilante murder of some citizens.
It is not clear to me whether that is the same Matthew G. McLaughlin or not, but submitted for your perusal.

But, if this is him, being published in this journal would not necessarily lead to the conclusion that he is a catholic.

(118,334 posts)Theres not much to be found. He attended UC Irvine as an undergrad and went on to earn his JD from George Mason Law School. U.S. News ranks them both at number 42 in the country. Not bad. He passed the California State Bar in 98. Took some time off in 2012 and 2013 and reactivated his practice the first day of 2014 ...

Since a JD degree from an appropriate law school is a requirement for admission to the CA bar, these are unlikely to be the same person
