JACKSON HEIGHTS (PIX11) Maili Tara Tamang had tears in her eyes, worried about her elderly parents in the tiny village she grew up in, Thangpalkot.
Maili knows her parents survived that devastating earthquake, while a quarter of the village of 300 did not, but now she worries about the aftershocks, and that supplies are running out.
I just want to help my parents, but I cant, Tamang told PIX11.
Hundreds gathered in the heart of Jackson Heights, the center of the Nepalese New York community, they lit candles. Some of those candles are in a formation spelling out Pray for Nepal or the Nepalese flag.

(13,496 posts)1. Wow
There is a great Nepalese/Tibettan restaurant that I go to in Jackson Heights. I never thought about the people here in NYC who have loved ones in peril or who lost them. I hope that they get the supplies they need to survive the after effects of the earthquake.
A quarter of a village gone. Holy cow. That's a lot of friends and loved ones gone so suddenly.

I heard this morning that there are some serious bottlenecks at the airport.
I wonder how many nepalese communities there are in the states? Such an unspeakable tragedy.
