Keith Broomfield, 36, had been in Syria for four months with the secular Kurdish Peoples Protection Units. On June 3, he was killed during a skirmish with ISIS fighters near Kobani, a city in northern Syria.
Broomfield felt led by the Lord to enter the fight despite his lack of military training, his father told CBS.
He turned his life over to the Lord and he decided this was God's will and God wanted him to do it," his mother told NBC.

(7,753 posts)So here's a guy with no military training and no reason to kill people except that "God wanted him to do it"
Why would God want him to do that? Oh, right, because Christians were being persecuted. That's OK then.
I suspect that he was conditioned into this ridiculous view of existence by the same mother and father who are not shouting and raging like rational people would at another senseless waste of life. "He turned his life over to the Lord"? Well that explains it. You stupid, stupid woman!

(106,886 posts)As in d-e-a-d, dead. Whatever his motivations were, however misguided his intentions, however misled he may have been is a matter of conjecture. All well and good for a look and discussion. Yukking it up over the death of an individual - any individual - is tacky to say the least. I'm sorry to see that here.
