Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis asks priests to cut ties with Girl Scouts

For almost 100 years, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouriand the Archdiocese of St. Louis have partnered in leadership programs for young women.
Today, nearly 4,000 Scouts meet in St. Louis parishes.
But this week, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson disbanded the "Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts" because of on-going concerns that the organization "exhibits a troubling pattern of behavior...increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values."

"increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values" - i.e., The girl scouts are promoting gender equality and freedom, and respecting personal sexuality. Can't have that, now can we???

Stop it, you're killing me. Yeah, maybe the Girl Scouts need more appropriate Catholic role models. Like Pope Alexander VI/Rodrigo Borgia, Torquemada, Hitler's buddy Pope Pius XII, crackpots like Bernadette Soubirous, Bill Donohue, Cardinal Law and Simon IV de Montfort.*
Once in Los Angeles, I was buying cookies and asked a Mom why the Girl Scouts didn't have the same problems as the Boy Scouts dealing with atheists, gays, etc. She said it was because they were "more focused on helping our girls than playing politics."
*Simon IV de Montfort led the Third Siege of Toulouse during the Albigensian Crusade. Which was one of those Real Xian vs. Off-Brand Xian crusades that various Popes declared every now and then. Usually to seize more political power.
I threw Simon in because of his interesting death. The carpenters of Toulouse got together and built a trebuchet (big catapult). According to one story, Simon was riding around the city walls in full armor, showing off and trying to intimidate the populace into surrendering.
It didn't work. A rock from the trebuchet smacked Simon in the head and killed him instantly.
According to Toulouse history, at the time the trebuchet was being operated by "donas e tozas e mulhers" (ladies, girls, and women). I visited Toulouse once on a business trip and that legend is still very popular in the city.
So if the Missouri Girl Scouts take a sudden interest in getting their wood-working badges, Archbishop Carlson might want to start worrying.
