Iceland declares Christianity a public health hazzard

The island country of Iceland has officially declared Christianity a public health hazard. The law proclaiming the radical idea was signed recently by *Prime Minister Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson in the spirit of “protecting the elderly from scams, our children from nightmares, and the general population from chicanery.”

As strong as the law’s language is, it does not restrict the free exercise of religion by any citizen or visitor.

A coalition of Lutherans, Catholics, and other Christian sects have formed an organization to combat the image that they contribute to the erosion of psychological well-being.

“Yes, certain rogues have used Christianity to fleece the old and give hellish nightmares to the young,” explained Reverend Andrew Canard. “However, faith requires the acknowledgment of not knowing and we can all agree simplistic and often contradictory answers found in the Bible are the answers to not knowing.”

In the US quite possibly. In fact for those unfortunate kids born to faith-healing sects certainly so, and a lethal hazarf at that. It's also a hazard of significant proprtion to religious minorities, nonbelievers, GLBT folks and in some areas simply women who wish to live independently. None of those problems seem to crop up very often in Iceland as I recall.

Fun Iceland bonus fact: Telephone directories list by first name first (presumably not "Christian name" however as that would be hazardous ) as there are so few surnames.

Iceland let the Banksters take over but just in time figured it out and went after them big time, as opposed to us. See it all in the movie "Inside Job". So that along with the religion thing would make Iceland a nice place to live....kind of Scandinavia West.

Believe what you want but the reality is none of us really know what happens once we check out.

I just read the snip in another Group and thought it was real. If I had followed the link and read the whole story, it was spelled out at the end that the story was a parody of the Utah porn law.

People want to digest things quickly and not slow down to take the time required. I'm guilty of it too.
