My own religious rights are being stepped on in GOP-run Arizona

by Linda Valdez, columnist - Apr. 28, 2012 04:20 PM

In this land of unalienable rights, individual liberty is not supposed to be sacrificed on the altar of anybody's religion. But, hey, if others are doing it, I want equal time.

Consider the possibilities.

In Republican-controlled Arizona, the religious beliefs of some become the basis for lawmaking.

This selective abandonment of the time-honored, Thomas Jefferson-endorsed separation of church and state should be troubling. But it also represents real opportunity.

Conservatives are not conservatives by definition unless they support giving Arizona back to its rightful owners.
