Related: About this forumOur hosts have done a great job. Let's thank them by giving them some relief.
They have served honorably for several months now and have all done a great job, so let's give them a break and elect a new crop of hosts. Otherwise, we run the risk of having them become like career politicians, where maintaining the office is more important than doing the job they were elected to do. I suggest that we have term limits as well, and some fresh blood in the seats just may do this group some good.
Changing the hosts will also allow other DU members a look at the inner workings of DU, something we should ALL be privy to one time or another.
No one that regularly posts here should be excluded from consideration, and I think we should keep the lead host as a non-partisan, non-group regular participant. (I would be ok with keeping Renew Deal as lead host).

(3,491 posts)want to stay on, then I would say let them by all means. Yes they are doing a fantastic job and so is the MIR Team.

(80 posts)I just got here last week. Usually people volunteer for a few weeks or months to do something.
Did any of our hosts volunteer for a time specified? Or were the rules so open that no time limits were set?
If any of you know something about this, I'd love to know the answers to my questions.
Time limits? Surely a year would be the maximum, right?
cleanhippie
(19,705 posts)Other groups have set limits such as 4 months (one Quarter). I would think that would be a good timeframe.

Im pretty sure that in A&A, a 4 month limit was set, not sure just when that time started though.

(14,860 posts)We thought that since forum hosts have a 90-day term, we should try that out to keep fresh blood in the mix. 90 days came along and everyone voted to keep the current hosts and do away with the 90-day term.
BTW: There are 3 months in a quarter

(80 posts)But four months isn't a quarter, I know that.
But the bottom line: no one has answered my question with a clear link or rule about hosts and term limits.
I would think the hosts could do that with a direct answer to my question.

(41,205 posts)If it's only a few months, then people will be kicked out as soon as they've learned the ropes.
But it's a good idea to get new blood from time to time, so something like a one-year term would be good.
I really don't think that anyone is going to regard being host of the Religion group as their career!
