http://khn.org/morning-breakout/federal-judge-in-texas-blocks-administrations-rules-on-transgender-care/A Texas judge issued an injunction Saturday against a federal mandate aimed to protect transgender people, finding that the federal health rule violates existing law. The preliminary injunction, granted by U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor, is in response to a lawsuit filed by Texas, on behalf of religious hospital network Franciscan Alliance, and four other states in August. I realize not every single member of the RCC is a bigot or a misogynist, but the organization itself sure is a perennial fucking monkey wrench in a sizeable portion of our party's social platform.
Wonder what can be done about that.

I could give two shits about the members, EXCEPT, they are the one credible fulcrum against which to move the RCC itself on these social issues.
As long as the RCC is behind lawsuits that stymie anti-discrimination laws, reproductive freedom, and a number of other major issues you will find as DNC party planks, you will have to go ahead and continue to hear me say mean things about the RCC's position on these issues. Too bad, so sad.

(36,693 posts)When I was a teenager I was told by a nun that she did not like Protestants
up until that time I did not give much thought to what religion someone was
I never did anything to that nun and could not figure out why she would have that feeling for people like me
Since that time I have tried to figure out what religion had to do with someone liking you or not
and have to a conclusion that religion borders on a form of brainwashing
So when someone tells me they are a Christian I look to see if they follow the Holy book they are so in love with and for the most part they don't even come close

(101,320 posts)so you are right this time - you do find it hard. You also, as we see in this case, find it hard to tell a bigot from someone just saying some people are Christians in name only.

That's the headline, not your breezy electric bugaloo head.
You'll find the 46 page order here, along with all the plaintiffs, including eight states.

I know you're jonesing to define this as a Catholic conspiracy but you're going about it in a remarkably inept way.
As to your remark about "our party's platform", I've read enough of your posts to see that as a red herring.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)One fucking guess who that is.
Elaborate on your 'red herring' smear, please.
This isn't LBN, I can do what I want to the subject line. Sorry the US wing of the RCC is such a broken record on discrimination.

One fucking guess who didn't read that.
As to the red herring, which is not a smear, look for your compadres who peddled the same distortions you did under the guise of "the party". You'll have to check their profiles because they're not posting.
And if you want to use the very real effect this has on transgendered persons to make breezy bugaloo headlines, state your cis privilege first.

(33,982 posts)What 'compadres'?
My state explicitly protects equal access/rights for Transgendered persons. So does my Employer, for co-workers, and for customers.
'electric boogaloo' rhymes with 'part II', but your right, rug. Shame on me. This is FAR from 'part 2' of the RCC shitting all over human beings whom we, as Democrats, are fighting to protect at the state and national level. It's more like part XXVI, it's happened more often than 'Friday the 13th' sequels.
It's getting old. Maybe members of the RCC should do something meaningful and material to stand up for human rights. Something to change the church's leadership positions on these issues.

(82,333 posts)This is about this lawsuit and this decision which can have drastic consequences unless it is precisely and decisively rebutted. It's not a cardboard platform for you to spew your usual uninformed and prejudged bullshit about the RCC.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)My criticism of the RCC is neither uninformed, nor prejudiced. What catholic entities that keep bringing these suits are doing, is EXACTY that. Prejudiced and uninformed.
And it's a consistent track record.
I've done what I can for my immediate sphere of influence. I do business with companies whose policies on human rights are compatible with my own. I work for a company who also supports the values I do. My time, money, and affiliations are aligned to my values, which is why I am *here* on DU, and not say... in a catholic church.
