Scott DesJarlais, the pro family values anti-abortion rights Tennessee Tea Party Congressman who it turns out was actually only pro-family values and anti-abortion rights for people who aren't Scott DesJarlais, now claims that the tape transcript released last week wherein he pressured his mistress/ex patient to have an abortion isn't really that damning, since the mistress wasn't pregnant in the first place. Values intact! Hypocrisy avoided!

(9,116 posts)Either you are not aware that anyone can go to the Religion & Spirituality Category hub and see A&A has both more posts and greater recent activity than the other sub-groups -- save Religion -- or you think everyone else is either too stupid or too lazy to go see for themselves.

(4,261 posts)Those who pronounce from the ground to the sky that they are the purist of the pure and determine who will go to heaven and who will not... well, when they show up covered in the filth they have themselves generated and still claim to be above the rest, it kinda rankles some of the rest of us a bit.
Absolving oneself of vile deeds and hypocrisy involved without making any kind of reparation... that's the kind of chutzpah that makes me a little titchy.
Oh and claiming a book makes it OK also is a little annoying.. yes...
If an atheist comes to light who is a pro-lifer that forces their girlfriend into an abortion and says their book makes it OK, well I would also be angry at them. When they do please post and I will direct anger at them as well.

(42,641 posts)As to hypocrisy, I recently posted a piece on atheistic intolerance. It was not received well, to say the least, by some of the non-theists.

(42,641 posts)And your answer to the question I asked is?
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)If you examine the discussions, you'll find one side is sticking to strictly theistic justifications, and things performed by organizations, while the other side takes any action by a singular member with no group backup and tries to smear a whole group of people.

(42,641 posts)So I will repeat the question:
I wonder if it is only theists who behave badly?
Or it could be framed this way:
Is violence a human characteristic, or is it limited to theists?

Pat Robertson, for instance, is fine with forced abortions in China because men are doing the deciding.
