Roy Moore's wife issues statement opposing lesbian Air Force Academy commandant

The Alabama-based Foundation for Moral Law released a letter from President Kayla Moore today opposing the appointment of a lesbian commandant for the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The Air Force has nominated Col. Kristin Goodwin to be the commandant of cadets at the Air Force Academy, according to Air Force Times.

"I oppose this nomination because Col. Goodwin does not set a proper moral example for youth," Mrs. Moore wrote in a letter to Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. "The person responsible for the education of cadets at the academy is a role model and an exemplar of proper deportment and conduct."

Moore is the wife of suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore.

"By nominating an open lesbian who proclaims that she is married to another woman, the Department of Defense states its disregard for the fundamental moral order established by God, thus breaking trust with the millions of Christians who voted for the new president in hope that the ungodly policies of the previous administration would be repudiated," Mrs. Moore wrote.

Kayla and Roy Moore aren't fit to spit shine the combat boots of a warrior like Col. Goodwin.

...a career military friend I once asked about "gays in the military." He said if all gay and lesbian people left the US military, it would collapse. You could not defend the county with that many people leaving.

It's a shameful part of our not so distant past - many careers were ruined because the military didn't tolerate openly gay and lesbian servicemen/women. They lived in a constant state of fear that they would be outed but still loved their country enough to serve.

Now that they can be out and proud Christian fundamentalists are still trying to shame them.

It was common for supervisors to cover for gay troops to keep the heat off - We knew and would warn them to avoid certain situations or certain people who were either under investigation or were conducting an investigation...

It was seriously fucked up that to protect a good troop we had to ignore the entire "Integrity First" rule of conduct.

More than anything else, I believe the climate before and during the years of Don't Ask - Don't Tell changed the minds of mid level leaders on the whole issue, and when they rose to leadership positions - they were ready to chuck the whole thing.

The hypocrisy just became more and more obvious. You can't maintain order and discipline - expect honest effort and the setting aside of personal gain for group success while at the same time installing a system that promotes lying and cheating.

I knew attitudes were changing when I was in, and I wondered if our gay and lesbian members would ever be able to serve without constantly looking over their shoulders.

Was a progressive step

The policy before DADT was NO GAYS EVER AT ALL. If we found out, we gave you a bad paper discharge - no questions asked

Clinton took heat for installing DADT from both sides - from the Homophobes because it acknowledged the existence of gay/lesbians in service and from the left who wanted open service immediately

No one was happy about it, but I lived through that time, and the lessening of "sting operations" and sweeping investigations into the lives of service members to determine if they were gay was actually a big step forward.

Then came Bush II - The leadership he chose to lead the DoD decided to use the DADT law to actually increase the amount of active investigations - Since the only thing needed was an "admission of sexual preference"... The hate is strong in those people, never doubt it

As soon as the GOP is in power it always looks for ways to undermine progress - and no matter what it became under Shrub, DADT was a step in the right direction.

Founded by Judge Roy Moore, who is currently suspended from his post (for the second time) for ethics violations

Seems son Caleb got his fourth drug conviction while working there

Kayla, Roy's wife, as President

For some reason they don't appear to disclose much

We obviously don't want the cockpits of our precious Air Force stuffed full of hot lesbians eager to join the mile-high club, instead of having Caleb show them how high to go
