Related: About this forumEgypt could make atheism illegal
Blasphemy is already illegal in Egypt, and people are frequently arrested for insulting or defaming religion under the countrys strict laws. But the newly proposed rule would make it illegal for people not to believe in God, even if they dont talk about it.

"No, you can't be a party member if you go to church. You can't be a manager. You can't be a reporter or writer. You can't have important jobs in the military. And you might not be accepted to college or keep you place in the queue for your own apartment--there's a chance, I guess, if you hide it really well, but don't let it become common knowledge."
It would be nice if that were just some podunk country like Albania or Moldova. But when it's the USSR and its colonies in Europe and Africa and the New World, China and its regional satrapies, we're talking about a lot of people. And these weren't countries that progressives tended to soundly condemn.
