33.32% of the worlds population self-define as Christian. That of course is all denominations. Within that we have Catholics, Methodists, Evangelicals, Baptists etc etc. So, within Christianity itself some Christians believe other Christians will go to hell rather than heaven because doctrinally they do not agree on interpretation of biblical teaching. But say we all agreed that if you were a Christian, that irrespective of denomination you were getting through the pearly gates, over 65% of the world population is getting sent to the hell fires for eternity.
Just over 21% of the world population self-define as Muslim. On judgement day there is no guarantee that Muslims will not be sent to hell. But hell for Muslims is not an eternity; they have a get out of jail free card tucked up their sleeve. However, if you are not Muslim, you are confined to hell for ever. That means Hell would be busy, with nearly 80% of the world population suffering an eternity of damnation.
Of course, if you are a Hindu heaven and hell is a state of mind that represents intermediate stages in the individuals progress toward final liberation
14.09% of us do not believe in heaven and hell. For all the religious communities (other than the Buddhist and Hindu) they of course will burn in hell. Their odds are not that great of skipping the fiery inferno, are they?
Of course, then we have the other religions that make up the other 18%, Buddhists, Jews, Sikhs, Pagans etc that all have their own belief systems.
So, what are we to do? Which heaven and hell count as the real one? You cant be in Christian Heaven and Muslim hell (or vice-versa) at the same time. Does not compute.
Does that mean if you are a Christian your hell will be heaving but the Muslim heaven will be empty, because of course all the Muslims will be in your hell. Right?
But if you are a Muslim, your hell will be heaving but the Christian heaven will be empty, because of course all Christians will be in your hell. Right?
Will we all have to have split personalities in the afterlife?
Which is busier? Heaven or Hell? Based on the above heaven is going to have plenty of leg room!

To answer your question...hmmmm...I don't believe in Hell and Heaven.
Well, perhaps a little more in Hell, since we're living in.

(16,104 posts)St. Peter was escorting him around and took him to what appeared to be a traditional cloistered monastery. The pope glanced in each room, and there was a simple bed, a chair and a window, room after room.
They arrived at a room just like the others, and St. Peter said, "This one is yours."
The pope was looking out the window and saw a beautiful mansion up on a hill above the monastery.
The pope ruefully asked, "Who gets one of 'the many mansions' promised in the Bible?"
St. Peter replied, "We get lots of popes here. The mansion is reserved for our first lawyer!"

What would we do without all these jerks anyway?
Besides, all our friends are here
Or Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young"
They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better, but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun

(12,344 posts)Most religions allow that members of other religions may get into heaven, even if it's not God's preferred method and you will be surprised at which saint is guarding the pearly gates. However Christian fundamentalists say you must believe in Jesus to get to heaven and all others go to hell.
Furthermore, they say that believers can interpret scripture for themselves through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. However, if you have an interpretation different from your preacher's, he may say you are a sinner and that you are going to hell.
Therefore, you should start your own sect, interpret the bible however you like, call everyone else a sinner, and you will get many mansions in heaven, each one with an infinite backyard. Get a dog though, since your dog will believe whatever you say and you might be lonely in heaven without one.
