Challenge: An insane person claims to be God. Prove that he's not.

You meet a stranger.

He claims that he's God.

How can you prove that he's actually not God?

"Are you omnipotent?" - "Yes, I just choose to be not right now."

"Are you omniscient?" - "Yes, I just choose to be not right now."

"Ha! You cannot be God! I tricked you!" - "Oh, I am God. I knew that you tricked me. I work in mysterious ways."

"Ha! You are afraid! God wouldn't be afraid!" - "I am afraid because I allowed myself to be afraid."
"Then stop being afraid." - "No, I don't want to."

As usual, sometime around Easter, my wife and I will pop the movie DVD in the player and watch it again. We went to a stage production here in St. Paul that was the last time Ted Neeley played the Jesus role. While he could no longer nail the high notes, which were dubbed in from tape, it was still worth seeing on stage.

"Do not put the Lord your God to the test."

Wouldn't be fair to hold new god to a stricter standard than regular god.

...now why don't existence defenders use that logic when they tell Atheists to prove god doesn't exist?

Burden of proof doesn't lie with atheists and atheism isn't a belief system

And it doesn't even need to go so far as someone claiming to *be* god - it can just be someone who claims to have spoken with god. Since the entire foundation of a revealed religion such as Christianity or Islam rests upon a single human being having received information directly from god, adherents of those religions in particular MUST allow for the possibility of it happening again. Worse, they have no clear way of disproving such a claim, since in each case the person was revealed NEW information that upended the "old order" of things. That was kind of the point in starting the new religion!
