from Egypt. There were a few Coptics in the group, but most were Muslims - and so this was the first time that I had the opportunity to learn about Ramadan (as well as their culture, practices, and beliefs).

In fact, I remember the first time they were on campus, a small group of about five were having a discussion in Arabic, and I asked if they were trying to determine the direction of Mecca so they could pray - they all smiled and told me they were, so I (hopefully!) pointed them in the right direction

During the several months they were with us, I was often invited to their apartments - they told me all about Egypt, and I told them about my life here in the States. It was especially fascinating for me to learn about Islam.

Thank you for the post - it brought back some very happy memories!

Wishing you well and peace.

Tim
