My Catholic playground

The Catholic school I attended had a traditional playground. Slides, climbing bars, roundabout, swings and things on an asphalt base. The one unique item was a double slide.

It was very tall. It had one set of stairs that led to the top where you were given the option of a straight angle or one with a slight hump midway down. Here's the weird part, only the girls were allowed to use the side with the bump.

I suppose there is something in the Bible that dictates that, but even as a kid I knew not to ask certain questions of the nuns.

I got it! The bump may be uncomfortable so let the girls endure it, the boys are too precious. n/t monmouth4 Dec 2018 #2

I didn't go to a Catholic school but I was raised Catholic, and I'm having trouble coming up with a reason for that.

I’m also catholic, well baptized anyway. We never had playgrounds like that. But from a secular point of view the bump is put into girls slides to keep them “safe”, the bump slows them down allowing a softer landing at the end. That was the reason for bump slides at a playground I helped build decades ago, although it was not designated a “girls only” slide.
