Stupid Church Repeats Stupid Slogan

Maine? Really. I guess whoever is in charge of the sign in front of this church had never heard of this stupid slogan before, and thought it was really clever. The church, like the denomination it represents, is apparently living in the past. That shouldn't be a surprise, though, since it relies on millennia-old books to guide it. Way to make your church a laughing-stock, folks!

Antigay Church Sign Sparks Backlash in Small Maine Town

An antigay Baptist church in Maine that posted an old homophobic platitude during Pride Month is receiving backlash, according to News Center Maine.

"Jesus made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” reads the sign outside of the Second Baptist Church in Palermo.

Below the sign is a pro-life banner that unironically reads, “Every life matters. Abortion is still murder.”

Ignorance can be corrected through learning. Stupidity is irreversible.

I maintain that the people involved in this church and your real estate company are simply stupid, and irredeemable. I marvel at how such establishments can even function.

...saying "you can't fix stupid". The office that I mentioned is a dumpy, little independent office in the more conservative part of a city in the conservative half of my state. They don't do well, but I'm sure we can supply them with enough MAGA buyers and sellers.

I suppose this Second Baptist Church believes that Jesus always was and is, based on some identifiable, but ancient, verse in the Bible.

Still, if the deity, by any name, creates all humans, then Steve must be a creation of that deity as well. I'm sure the pastor of that church would tell you that everyone is God's creation. Simple logic dictates that.

As I said: Stupid.

If you accept the premise of some tooth fairy creating two humans out of nothing, then you also have to accept that their children had to have sex with each other.

Incest is punished in the Babble with death.

I assume Adam had his incestuous offspring stoned to death after each child was weaned. Eventually cousins could copulate and that was ok, so the species could flourish.

All nonsense. Campfire tales of itinerant goatherds. And yet, people still read and believe those fables. It boggles the mind, really.

Someone will, no doubt, claim that those stories are just allegories, but there are hordes of people who believe things happen just as described in those fables.

10. Read John:

Jun 2019

'If you knew me, you would know my Father also'" (John 8:19) "Before Abraham was born, I am!" (John 8:58). "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).

That's a fundamental belief of most Trinitarians. The belief is that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one thing, in different manifestations.

So, yes, there is evidence for that, if you consider the Bible to be evidence of anything. I do not, so I look to what Christians claim to believe.

Which is kind of stretching things. Every Trinity Sunday we grapple with what the Three-in-One means. But we never speak about Jesus as our father. Frankly, we have human parents.

If those fools put any thought into the question, they'd have to conclude that God made gay people, too.

I'm mortified at the hatred and ignorance that goes into the world with the name of Christianity attached to it.

The whole Trinity thing, and the identity or identities of the deity is at the core of a lot of denominationalism. Disputes over the identity of the deity and its three parts is disputed by different groups.

I offered up the verses the "unity of the godhead" believers trot out. They hold that all three manifestations are the same deity, so Jesus was around at the creation, too. So was the Holy Spirit. I don't believe any of it, but many do believe that very thing, and will cite the verses I quoted, along with others to support their case.

Since it's all mythology, it's meaningless unless you're a believer, and even believers argue different sides of the question.

each other over the true nature of their god.

Then the triumphant faction settled down for the next 700 years or so, until schisms and reformations and such pushed the worshipers of the god(s) of peace into another round of multi-century fratricide.

God made gay people.

God made Judas.

Got is responsible for the existence of Hitler and the worse killer, Stalin.

The point isn't that God made people who are really good and people who are really bad and people who are everywhere in between.

Kinda like 3-In-One Oil, isn't it? All three oils in the same, cute little squeeze can. They're all the same fluid, but used for different things.

I keep a can of it on a shelf. I use it now and then to stop a door from squeaking or to oil small machinery. I find, though, that I use my WD-40 spray can more often these days.

And speaking of snails, most, if not all, snails are hermaphrodites. Each snail has both sets of reproductive organs. When they mate, both impregnate each other. Because, really, you can never have too many snails! "Male and female created he ALL OF THEM!"

I like it. It's a good game!
