Romney meets with evangelist Billy Graham
By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) – Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney met with evangelical icon Billy Graham for the first time on Thursday at the evangelist’s remote mountaintop home in North Carolina.

Romney traveled to Graham’s residence in Montreat, just outside Asheville, to meet with Graham and his son Franklin Graham, a high-profile pastor in his own right.

Romney campaign spokesman Rick Gorka told reporters that Romney met with the Grahams for approximately 30 minutes and that they discussed religious freedom, religious persecution and growth of the Grahams’ ministry in China, Sudan and North Korea.

Towards the end of the meeting, according to Gorka, Billy Graham led a prayer for the Romneys, saying "I'll do all I can to help you. And you can quote me on that."

His real God is his money right here on earth, how much will he leave to the poor? Jesus was a real Evangelical, who didn't profit from
the poor.

11. Billy Graham & the gangster...

I recently read the book "Gangster Squad" by Paul Lieberman. It's a great, fast-moving true story of the Los Angeles Police Dept. secret squad formed in 1946 to fight organized crime.

L.A.'s most famous (semi) native gangster was Mickey Cohen. Famous partly because he incurred the displeasure of local Sicilian entrepreneur Jack Dragna, causing Cohen's house in Brentwood to mysteriously explode. Also causing lots of bullets to fly around in the "Battle of Sunset Strip."

Cohen used an electronics expert named Jim Vaus to sweep his offices/home for bugs etc. Vaus was the son of a Holy Roller preacher and eventually re-converted to Xianity, in a very public Billy Graham crusade.

But Vaus was pretty small fry. He and Graham got it into their heads that Cohen might convert to Jebus. This would be a major P.R. coup, since Cohen was a media star.

Cohen knew a bunch of rubes when he saw them, and milked Graham's wealthy backers for years by hinting that he might publicly convert.

During one Graham crusade in NY City, Cohen stayed at the Waldorf. He showed up every night at Billy's circus, standing in the back. And every night, Graham expected him to come down during the "altar call" for conversion. Hallelujah and pass the Press Releases!

But in the end, Cohen said, "I'm just a Jewish kid." And stayed unconverted.

he is nothing but a "my way or the highway" religionist who has spread fear and hate quite successfully.

As for meeting with Romney - what is this "the enemy of my enemy.......?"
