"how can you tell that your god is make believe....?"

"He's make believe if he hates all the same sorts of people you hate."

Seen on the internet, in a blog post about rabid homophobia. Paraphrased without respect to deity gender in the interest of brevity, but obviously applicable to goddesses, too.

It was a two line response in the comments section of a blog post I hit with Stumble Upon (now long gone). The original blog post was from 2010 if I recall correctly, and was about a right wing politician and her pastor husband, both of them professing christian fundamentalism and both extreme homophobes. I don't recall which state the pol was from.
