http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/11/pope-francis-gay-lobby-exists-inside-vatican/Some might say Pope Francis is plain spoken, or perhaps not entirely cued into the concept of an open secret.

Enigmatic? No wonder the faith community is so apt to fall into open hate speech and bigotry throughout history.

(146,218 posts)Just completed a 9,000 mile, two month road trip and ready to be home.
Saw some beautiful parts of the country and met some fascinating people. Other than some of the most astoundingly horrible RW religious radio I have ever heard, most people seemed to be getting along pretty well.
Glad you are well.

(6,271 posts)the Catholic clergy has long been a haven for gays, the church has done them some service in that way in the harshest centuries, and ought to now try to do them some more by welcoming them instead of condemning them.
He didn't do that, but instead acted as we all expected.

(146,218 posts)Perhaps he is waiting for more information. I don't expect much, but I sure don't see much of anything either way in this particular statement.

(146,218 posts)Do you think he means that there are those in the hierarchy lobbying for civil rights or that there is a secret organization not practicing what they preach or something else?
