This year at Netroots Nation, Raw Story is asking 5 Questions of various panel speakers, exhibitors and attendees about issues you wont hear addressed on the main stage.
Though many liberals progressives define themselves as non-religious, most candidates they are asked to support nonetheless openly espouse religions views during the campaign season with one open exception Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). David Silverman, who became the president of American Atheists in 2010, led the first official delegation of American Atheists to Netroots Nation this year, and spoke to Raw Story about atheism in politics and the atheist movements recent struggles with sexism.
Raw Story: Why are you guys at Netroots this year?
Silverman: First of all, were thrilled to be at Netroots. One of the things were seeing is that the atheist presence in America is really exploding. And as atheists explode, as the atheist movement grows, weve had better and bigger conventions and weve started tabling at each others conventions, but one of the things weve noticed is that theres a lot of navel-gazing. Theres a lot of the movement looking at itself and not going outside.

(146,218 posts)I will tell you about something that happened to me this week that really drove me nuts.
So, the husband is washing the outside of the boat. Now the nice things about boats is that they are watertight and if you close everything up properly, you can wash with abandon.
That's if you close everything up properly.
If you don't, water comes into the cabin.
One particularly large droplet fell from the hatch onto my track pad.
I wiped it off right away, but the pad became demonically possessed for the next 24 hours.
It took on a complete life of it's own - opening things, closing things, making things bigger then smaller.
Even if I didn't touch it but just let it sit, the cursor would move around wildly.
That drove me nuts.
Luckily, it seems to have repaired itself.

(82,333 posts)I've spilled soda, ice cream, soup and sauce on my touchpad. It's gotten to the point that I just let the cursor carry on until it dries. Then I'll clean it - until the next time.
