Religions targeted by the Greens

THE Greens have unveiled plans for a fresh attempt to consolidate federal anti-discrimination law that would wind back some of the last exemptions for religious organisations.

The Greens' plan would remove the exemption from anti-discrimination law whenever religious groups provide housing, education and health services that are financially supported by the government.

The plan, which is part of the Greens' election policy on the rule of law, builds on last month's changes to the Sex Discrimination Act in which the government removed the exemption for religious organisations that provide aged care.

Those changes made it unlawful to discriminate against people on the basis of their sexual identity.

isn't really targeting religions. We didn't call the repeal of Jim Crow "White people targeted by civil rights movement", and white people weren't being directly subsidized by the government.
