Happy feast day of St. Francis!

A man in the likeness of Christ, an enduring symbol of our love for the poor and disadvantaged, our love for all creatures upon God's Earth, a deep respect for Mother Earth and above all a tremendous love for Christ and a devotion to living like Him.
Happy Feast Day!

I took my parakeets to get blessed, my first year of high school. (My one year in Catholic school.)

2. I remember the Dominicans had a custom of visiting the Franciscans on October 4 as fellow friars.

The Franciscans in turn visited the Dominicans on August 4 (changed to August 8 after Vatican II).

I grew up in a Dominican parish and they had a friendly rivalry.

I can't imagine what would have become of the Church had Francis not come along. Another is sorely needed.

... of the animals. We come in singing All Creatures of Our God and King. The dogs just start barking, and it is fun.

It was marvellous to see the love and enthusiasm for S. Francis among the friars - there's a very special bond between them and their seraphic father.
