Have always been solidly behind social programmes, and from everything I've heard of the U.S. Bishops they're the same. Even those most conservative on moral issues.

It's one thing which drives the freeper 'catholics' mad that there is so little support for their lunatic extremist laissez faire capitalism, even among conservative Bishops.

I don't see any reason to read anything else into this.
