(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)8 Dead, Several Others Shot At Pittsburgh Synagogue
Eight people have been killed and a number of others injured after a shooting situation at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill on Saturday.
KDKAs Meghan Schiller reports that a suspect, a heavy-set white male with a beard, has surrendered. The SWAT team had been talking with the suspect, and he was crawling and injured. It is unclear the extent of his injuries.
KDKA sources confirm to Andy Sheehan that the suspects name is (I won't post his name in this group at this point, he doesn't deserve to be called by his name).

(25,862 posts)but in April 2014 there was a shooting at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, KS. Three people murdered.
I'm not sure if there have been any other shootings between that one and the one today that specifically targeted Jews, but sadly, I would not be surprised.
All of these mass murders are despicable.

(53,959 posts)Anti-Semitism has risen quite a bit since the POS took office, and recently, there has been an uptick in anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic rhetoric, which, IMO, has largely gone unnoticed by people and the media.

(182,829 posts)We used to belong to the local JCC. Great pool but it is out in the middle of nowhere with really bad phone service. I used to take my daughter out there but I had to really keep myself aware. Sorry but I had to. I recognized how soft a target it was for pieces of s___ like this guy. They had an armed guard there for big events like Members Day.
How horribly tragic.

(58,724 posts)Making me ill to see his name and photo all over the MSM (and on DU).
This is such an awful moment and I hope and pray it is not the beginning of worse moments to come.
My heart goes out to all the members of that congregation and especially the family who was celebrating a bris at the shul when the attack took place.
And to those who lost their lives - I have no words to express my sorrow.
And to those brave officers who rushed in and fought the gunmen - I applaud your bravery and courage.
The scourge of antisemitism seems omnipresent. The number of antisemitic posts and memes and other hateful rhetoric being bandied about online is staggering.
The fact that there is now such a precise link to that nastiness and a real life massacre is truly terrifying.
